Quick answer
- Brand quartz and Chinese factory-direct quartz are different commercial systems, not simply expensive and cheap versions of the same purchase.
- Brands can offer established product documentation, distribution, defined warranty structures and lower buyer-side qualification burden.
- Factory-direct sourcing can offer more specification and private-label control, but the importer must manage factory qualification, QC, origin, shipping and claims.
- For U.S. buyers, compare factory-direct China pricing only after confirming whether the product is within applicable U.S. trade-remedy scope and what cash-deposit treatment applies.
First, this comparison is not a product ranking and does not imply endorsement, affiliation or representation of Caesarstone, Cambria or Cosentino/Silestone. The brands are included because B2B buyers frequently use them as reference points when deciding between a branded distribution model and a factory-direct model.
Do Not Compare Local Brand Pricing Directly with China FOB
First, a brand slab available through a U.S. or regional distribution network and a factory-direct FOB quote are at different points in the supply chain. Brand pricing may include distribution inventory, local support and manufacturer warranty programs. A factory FOB quote normally precedes ocean freight. Specifically, import treatment, destination charges, inventory carrying cost and buyer-managed QC.
| Dimension | Established Brand Model | China Factory-Direct Model |
|---|---|---|
| Buying basis | Brand/distributor program, market-specific | Direct manufacturer/exporter quotation |
| Minimum order | Dealer/distributor and stock dependent | Supplier, SKU mix and production-run dependent |
| Availability | Can be faster where regional stock exists | Production plus export and international transport unless stock is held locally |
| Customization | Within published catalogue/programs | Potentially broader, subject to factory capability and MOQ |
| Buyer qualification burden | Lower, but product/project terms still need review | Higher: entity, plant, product, QC, origin, packing and claims must be verified |
U.S. Trade-Scope Gate Comes Before the Price Comparison
For U.S. importers, a China factory-direct quote cannot be converted into a meaningful landed cost until trade-remedy treatment is understood. U.S. antidumping and countervailing duty orders on certain quartz surface products from China remained in place after the 2025 sunset reviews. Scope depends on the written orders and transaction facts, not on a supplier’s commercial description alone.
In a separate 2026 global safeguard proceeding, the USITC recommended a tariff-rate quota on quartz surface products to the President. The Commission recommendation is not itself the final import measure. However, buyers should check current presidential action and CBP implementation before calculating landed cost.
First, Practical rule: if trade scope or cash-deposit treatment is unresolved, compare product capability and factory price separately. Do not present a China FOB figure as a U.S. landed-price advantage.
Quality Consistency: Compare Systems and Evidence, Not Country Labels
First, established brands invest in documented product systems, design control, manufacturing standards and distribution support. That does not mean every slab from every production date is visually identical. Specifically, large or phased projects should still confirm lot/batch compatibility and the brand’s current project guidance.
First, chinese factories vary significantly in process maturity and documentation. Some can run repeat programs with detailed records; others cannot. Specifically, the useful comparison is supplier-specific:
- Does the exact SKU have an approved reference and version?
- How is full-slab appearance reviewed before shipment?
- What dimensional and flatness standards does the supplier actually measure?
- Are test reports linked to the current product and production site?
- Can repeat batches be traced to production records?
- What happens when a batch is outside the agreed acceptance criteria?
Thickness and Flatness
First, do not publish one tolerance as “the brand standard” and another as “the Chinese standard” unless the exact manufacturer’s quality document supports it. Ask for the current published or contractually agreed tolerance for the specific product. For factory-direct supply, include the measurement method, sampling plan and acceptance limit in the purchase specification.
Mixing, Curing and Surface Processing
First, these process stages can influence visual consistency, flatness and fabrication behavior. A B2B buyer does not need to assume that one supplier category has good curing and another has poor curing. Instead, verify the actual production route, process controls and finished-product evidence. A factory visit. Specifically, buyer-directed live review or third-party audit can support that assessment.
Warranty: Compare the Actual Terms and Eligible Use
| Supplier / Brand | Published warranty structure | B2B buyer note |
|---|---|---|
| Caesarstone | U.S. residential quartz/mineral products include a lifetime warranty subject to registration, installation and other terms; separate terms apply to commercial and other product categories. | Check the exact product, use, installer requirements and current warranty document. |
| Cambria | Publishes a transferable Full Lifetime Warranty for eligible installed Cambria product in the U.S. and Canada, subject to its terms. | Confirm project/use eligibility and exclusions rather than relying on the headline term alone. |
| Silestone / Cosentino | Cosentino’s March 2026 standard warranty states 25 years for registered residential Silestone and 10 years for commercial use, subject to terms and exclusions. | Registration, proof of purchase, use category and exclusions matter. |
| Factory-direct supplier | Contract-specific; may range from replacement commitments to limited written defect warranties. | The practical value depends on seller identity, evidence requirements, remedy language and cross-border enforceability. |
For factory-direct procurement, warranty language should not replace pre-shipment quality control. Define the product specification, evidence required for a claim, notification period, investigation process and remedy before production.
Lead Time and Inventory: Compare Supply Architecture
First, brands can be faster where the required color is already held in regional stock. Factory-direct orders usually require production planning, export preparation, international transport, import clearance and destination delivery. Specifically, actual timing varies by SKU, factory capacity, sailing schedule, route and customs events. So a fixed “45–90 day” rule should not be treated as universal.
First, the strategic difference is inventory ownership. A local-distribution model can allow smaller replenishment purchases where stock exists. Factory-direct economics often encourage larger planned orders, which moves more forecasting and inventory risk to the importer.
Silica-Related Product Information: Verify the Exact Product
The three brands do not have identical material strategies, and “quartz” should not be treated as one fixed composition across every collection.
- Caesarstone: Caesarstone states that ICON™ advanced fusion surfaces are crystalline-silica free, with possible trace crystalline silica up to 1%, and says the claim is supported by independent XRD and HHRA testing.
- Cambria: Cambria describes its products as natural quartz surfaces and publishes silica safety information and Safety Data Sheets for fabrication. Buyers should use the current product/SDS documentation rather than assume a universal silica percentage from the brand name.
- Silestone / Cosentino: Cosentino states that all Silestone colors have used low-crystalline-silica Hybriq+ technology since 2023. Its current portfolio labels colors by maximum crystalline-silica content, including Q40 (maximum 40%) and Q10 / Silestone XM (maximum 10%).
- Chinese factory-direct products: composition varies by supplier and SKU. “Low silica,” “silica free” or “zero silica” should be treated as a product-specific claim requiring a suitable laboratory method, sample identity, reporting basis and traceability to the quoted product.
When Brand Quartz Makes More Sense
- The architect, designer, dealer network or end customer requires a named product.
- Regional inventory and short replenishment time are more important than maximum customization.
- You prefer a manufacturer-defined documentation and warranty program.
- Your order volumes do not support efficient direct-import inventory.
- Your organization does not want to manage factory qualification, international QC and cross-border claims.
When Factory-Direct Makes More Sense
- You have enough repeat volume to justify direct procurement and inventory planning.
- Your team can verify factory, product, origin, QC, packing and shipment evidence.
- You need custom colors, packaging, labeling or private-label control.
- Your channel buys on specification, service and landed value rather than a required brand name.
- You can manage claims and replenishment without relying on a local brand service network.
The Middle Ground: Private Label / OEM
First, a regional distributor can combine factory-direct manufacturing with its own market-facing brand. This can create more control over assortment and customer relationships. But only if the importer runs a disciplined product system: approved references, version control, batch release, packaging, technical documentation and claims handling. See our OEM & Private Label Quartz strategy guide for the operating framework.
Bottom Line
First, caesarstone, Cambria and Silestone should not be compared with Chinese factory-direct quartz on factory price alone. The brand model includes a product system, market distribution and defined support structure. Specifically, factory-direct sourcing shifts more control—and more responsibility—to the importer.
First, compare the same product requirement, the same destination and the same risk responsibilities. Then decide whether your business is better served by brand availability, factory-direct control, or a hybrid portfolio.

How this article was prepared:
- Brand claims: Warranty and silica-related statements were checked against official manufacturer pages or current manufacturer documents available in August 2026.
- Factory-direct comparison: Chinese factory statements are framed as supplier-specific procurement issues rather than universal country-level quality claims.
- Pricing: The revised article removes direct comparisons between local/wholesale brand prices and China FOB prices because the commercial bases are not equivalent.
- Trade treatment: U.S. import references are based on official USITC information current through August 7, 2026. Transaction-specific scope and cash-deposit treatment must be verified separately.
First, Information status: Reviewed August 7, 2026. Brand collections, warranties, composition, availability, pricing and U.S. import measures may change. Specifically, verify current manufacturer documents and transaction-specific trade treatment before purchase.
