If zero silica quartz US is on your shortlist, this guide covers the points that actually move the needle. US importers, distributors, and fabricators have been asking for “zero-silica” and “silica-free”
quartz more often in the last couple of years — and the requests are getting sharper as state and workplace rules
around crystalline silica tighten. If you are sourcing for the US market, the terminology matters less than the paper
behind it. This guide covers what to verify before you order, how to write the specification, and how packing and QC
actually get planned for a US-bound shipment.

What “Zero-Silica” and “Silica-Free” Mean (and What They Don’t)
“Silica-free,” “zero crystalline silica,” and “low-silica” are not the same claim, and
none of them is a blanket promise. Each one applies to one exact product: a specific SKU, formulation version, and the
third-party test file that goes with it. A silica-free line in one color does not cover a different color or thickness.
When a supplier hands you a “silica-free” label without a test report for the exact SKU you are buying, you
do not have a silica-free product — you have a label.
If the distinction between low-silica and silica-free is the part you need to nail down first, our zero-silica vs low-silica comparison sets out what each claim actually requires.

What US Buyers Should Actually Verify
Before any order moves, lock down four points:
- The exact product code, current formulation, and current version.
- A current third-party test report that measures crystalline silica for that exact SKU.
- Confirmation that the figure applies to the specific color and thickness you are importing.
- That the documented result matches the production batch — not an older or different version.
One practical tip from our side: keep the test file with the order and shipment records. US customs, your specifier,
and your own workplace-safety reviewer will all want to see it, and a report that “exists somewhere” is
useless if nobody can find it at the loading port.
How the main zero-silica formulation routes differ in what they actually declare is tracked in our zero-silica surface technology landscape.
How to Specify: Sizes, Thickness, and Finish
Slab dimensions vary by product, so write the format you actually need instead of trusting a category name. The regular
super-jumbo reference is about 3200 × 1600 mm (127 × 64 in); project sizes such as 3000 × 1400 mm and
3000 × 1500 mm, and a super-jumbo maximum up to 3530 × 2030 mm, are reviewed per product and order. Standard
slab thicknesses are 20 mm (3/4 in) and 30 mm (1-1/4 in); anything else needs a customization review. Finish availability
is product-specific — do not assume a polish you saw on one color carries to another.
Packing and Container Loading for US-Bound Shipments
For a US-bound full-slab shipment of the regular super-jumbo size (3200 × 1600 mm, about 55 sq ft per slab), the
packing reference we plan around is 7 bundles per 20 ft container: 30 mm slabs at 10 per bundle (70 slabs per container)
and 20 mm slabs at 15 per bundle (105 slabs per container). Treat that as a US-bound planning number, not a promise that
applies to every destination, size, or product — weight, crate design, and payload change the real count.
Order-Specific QC, Not a Rubber Stamp
QC is not a fixed checklist we stamp on every order. For each order we agree on what gets inspected: approved-sample
comparison, full-slab visual review, dimensions and thickness, finish and surface condition, edge processing, labels,
package content, loading sequence, and measurement records. The method, sample size, acceptance criteria, and who signs
the release are confirmed for the selected product and order. If a supplier tells you every slab is “100% inspected”
without telling you the sample size, that is a phrase, not a plan.
Material Choice Does Not Replace Workplace Safety
Choosing a silica-free or low-silica product does not remove cutting, handling, or installation responsibilities.
Fabricators and installers still own wet methods, dust control, ventilation, PPE, training, and local requirements.
We supply product-specific documentation; we do not determine your workplace compliance, and we will not call any product
“safe” to make the paperwork easier.
FAQ
No product gets called safe or safer here. A lower-silica formulation is one factor in a workplace-safety plan— not a replacement for exposure controls, PPE, or local law. Verify the specific product with your own safety professional.
Yes, for the exact product code, formulation, and version. Confirm the current third-party report for the specific color and thickness before you order, and keep it with the shipment file.
Regular super-jumbo is about 3200 × 1600 mm, with project and super-jumbo maximum sizes reviewed per product and order. Standard thicknesses are 20 mm and 30 mm.
For the regular super-jumbo format, the US-bound reference is about 70 slabs at 30 mm or 105 slabs at 20 mm per 20 ft container, across 7 bundles. Confirm the real count for your exact size, product, and payload.
